Coffee Homer

$400.00

Some mornings call for coffee. Others call for COFFEE!

Homer is hand cut, carved and shaped piece by piece to give him that rounded, dimensional look I love instead of feeling like a flat cutout. From his face and hands to the folds in his shirt, the mug and the steam coming off his coffee, there are little carved details everywhere you look.

And then there are the extras.

His signature strands of hair are made from wire, adding another tiny dimensional detail that I couldn’t leave out. The coffee mug has hand-applied resin details, and I carried resin into the oversized COFFEE! lettering too, giving parts of it a glossy, almost coffee-like finish that catches the light against the painted surfaces.

The lettering is individually cut, shaped and raised from the background, so the typography becomes part of the artwork rather than just something written underneath him.

Everything sits against a moody blue-gray background that makes Homer’s yellow pop and works so well with the warmth of the frame.

And that frame deserves its own moment.

I made it by hand from solid canary wood, a hardwood with naturally rich, warm coloring and beautiful variation throughout the grain. I wanted something that would elevate Homer without making the piece feel too serious, and this wood did exactly that. It gives the whole thing a warm, finished feel while still letting Homer be Homer.

It’s nostalgic, a little ridiculous, and very relatable before that first cup of coffee.
